July Goals

July Goals

2015 is halfway over! In some ways I can’t believe it and in other ways I’ve been looking forward to 2016 for a while now. It’s hard to believe that just 3 years ago I shot my first wedding and wondered if this might be something I’d like doing. This business has grown so much since then, but I think part of being a successful small business owner is never settling. Always finding ways to innovate and improve the client’s experience and always learning. Some of my goals this month relate to that, and I’m really excited!

This month Stephen and I traveled quite a bit. Or at least it felt that way. We were gone for almost 10 days on a business/school trip in Columbus and then a trip to visit my family in Cincinnati. We loved every minute of it, but were definitely glad to come home. I got to ride my mom’s horse, Pepper, a few times and we saw Jurassic World (which was super fun). Other than that this month has just been catching up on things at home and preparing for Stephen’s drama camps, which he directs every summer. They are one-week drama intensives where kids audition on a Saturday, come to camp Monday-Friday and perform the show Friday night. Needless to say it’s BUSY so I’m looking forward to a little down time soon.

To do:

  • Watch webinars – I have so many amazing resources in my inbox from WeddingWire and Katelyn James Photography that I haven’t had any time to sit down and take advantage of. I’m really excited about finishing up the weddings on my plate and having time to do this!
  • July wedding – I’ve got one super exciting wedding in July and I can’t wait to shoot/edit it! This couple is super sweet and laid-back and is having a small ceremony on Falls Lake. I can’t wait!
  • Finish spring weddings – I’ve got one gorgeous June wedding left to edit, and then I can start looking ahead to fall busy season.
  • Submit spring weddings to blogs – I shot a couple weddings this spring that I absolutely LOVE and I can’t wait to get them prepped and ready to send off!

Done:

  • Sales tax – In the end, it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. It’s funny how not knowing a lot about something makes you put off figuring it out, but it wasn’t that bad. And now it’s done!!
  • Find a routine – The past couple of weeks have been much better. I’ve been going to the gym more regularly, reading more and eating healthier. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I’m on a healthy routine. One of my goals this month is to stick to it and build habits out of it.
