Lake Wheeler Wedding Photography

We could not have asked for a prettier day for Ritch and Renée’s gorgeous lakeside wedding ceremony at Lake Wheeler at the beginning of May. It certainly was a busy day, getting ready at the Sheraton in downtown Raleigh (complete with several different parades going on), heading to the ceremony at Lake Wheeler and then back to Raleigh for the reception at Caffé Luna, but it was perfect. These two could obviously not be happier, and I love that I got to celebrate that with them!

Renée and Ritch met at Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh through mutual friends. Though neither of them really wanted to go to the party that night, they hit it off. Ritch has been a fireman for over 20 years and has two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Shane. Renée works at the Sheraton in Raleigh and has one son, Cole. It truly was a joy to watch these two families become one. Ritch and Renée were so creative with the ways they included their kids in the wedding and I could tell how much it meant to them. Cole walked Renée down the aisle, all 5 of them participated in a sand ceremony, and the first dances included Renée dancing with Cole and Shane and Ritch dancing with Elizabeth.

All of Ritch’s groomsmen are also firemen, and I loved how they incorporated the firetruck and helmets into the portraits. What a cool idea! And can we talk about the sailboat that just happened to go by while we were doing couple photos by the lake? The cherry on top of a fabulous day. Congratulations you two!!
