The Battle of Bentonville
One thing you should know about Stephen and I is that we love history. The other thing you should know about this post is that these are all iPod photos. For this post I actually kind of like the lower quality, though, because it makes it seem more authentic. Like these could have actually been old restored photos form the battle. I said I was working on taking more personal photos (with my real camera), but it’s a work in progress!
When we saw that there was going to be a big reenactment for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bentonville, we jumped at the chance to go! And so did 25,000 other people. It was crazy how packed it was! It was the largest reenactment in North Carolina ever with over 3,000 participants reenacting the battle that took place on March 19-21, 1865.
I don’t think the battle was my favorite part of the day actually. I LOVED seeing the two camps where the reenactors set up for the weekend. They had Civil War-era tents and pots and had fires going and guitars for entertainment. With everyone lounging around in their uniforms it really felt like we stepped back in time. The battles really cool too, though. They had cavalry and canons, and it lasted a full hour.
