Garner NC Wedding Photography
Sarah and Matt’s intimate December wedding was like a breath of fresh air. Some wedding days are chaotic, some are high stress, and even the best-planned wedding days are busy, bus,y busy running from one thing to another. That makes weddings like Sarah and Matt’s stand out in stark contrast. The whole day was so simple and relaxed. I think they had 35 guests total and after the ceremony they simply spent a couple hours sharing a meal with close family and friends. What a wonderful way to celebrate a wedding!
The day began at Lake Benson Park in Garner, NC. Sarah decided she didn’t want any photos of prep, so instead we spent an hour at the park doing portraits. First of just Matt, then a first look and couple portraits, and then some bridal portraits of Sarah. Portraits are one of my favorite parts of a wedding day, so I was thrilled to get to spend so much time on them. You wouldn’t know from the pictures, but it was freezing, and it was windy. Sarah was such a trooper in her beautiful (but not very warm) dress! The fur stole she brought was not only functional, but added an element of sophistication to the portraits that I absolutely love!
There was one moment during couple portraits that was just so sweet and intimate. I was getting some great shots and then I paused to scout a new location and Sarah looked up at Matt (she’s a little shorter than he is if you hadn’t noticed 😉 and said, “I can see straight up your nose.” We all died laughing. I love it when couples are so comfortable with each other and with me that they can just be themselves and have a good time. It really is a blessing!
After the portraits we all headed across the street to the White Deer Park nature center where the wedding took place. The ceremony was out on the porch and the reception was right inside in a room with huge windows on three sides. (Have I told you how much I love window light? Because it’s the best.) The whole time it just felt like one big family. I think was partly from the smaller-than-normal group, but it was partly something intangible. I felt like I was among friends. I’m so thankful I got to be a part of it! Congratulations Sarah and Matt!
