Southwest Louisiana Family Photographer

I got to shoot with Libby, Thor, Jasper, and Thor’s mom a couple weeks ago while she was in town visiting for Easter! Aren’t their Easter outfits perfect? We decided on a morning session, which I like for a couple reasons. It tends to be easier on kiddos, and there are fewer people and car around, especially at 8:30 on a Saturday! We chose the DeRidder courthouse area, and I’m glad we did, because it rained constantly the 48 hours leading up to our sessions. A park or other natural area would have been way to wet!

Jasper is 3, and so adorably handsome. He wasn’t thrilled to be taking photos, but I’m no stranger to that. We had to bring mini marshmallows to our last family session to get Benjamin and Clara to behave! But my strategy with that is to keep shaking things up. We did some fun photos like Libby and Thor swinging him between them or his grandma giving him lots of kisses. Later I gave him some time to run around. When he didn’t want to look at the camera for his photos by himself, we made it a game of peek-a-boo. No 3-year-old can resist turning around when peek-a-boos’s on the table! All these strategies keep things light and allow kids to be kids. While still getting great photos, don’t you think?
