Congratulations to Kelsey and Josh who welcomes sweet Alaina into the world in November. She had a brief NICU stay, but she’s so strong and got to come home pretty quickly. What a wonderful holiday season to have a new baby at home! For us, Benjamin was born just 8 days before Christmas and Clara also has a November birthday, so we are no strangers to newborns during the holidays. It makes such a special time with family even sweeter!
I find morning sessions usually work best for newborns. We definitely want to avoid the evening “witching hour” where our littlest family members can get fussy until they fall asleep for the night. Even so, these sessions almost always require a break of some sort, either for a bottle or a diaper, but Alaina did just about as well as a newborn can. For about 98% of the session she was sleepy and happy. She didn’t LOVE being put down on the blanket to take some pictures with her big sister, but after a few extra cuddles, she even did that well.
And isn’t her nursery adorable!? I love her name wall over her crib, and there are so many other cute little details that make the room come together.
I haven’t done a newborn session in a while, and you just forget how tiny they are. I love the tiny fingers and toes. Clara is our “little,” and she’s 3 now! But we’re about to meet our own baby boy REALLY soon, so we’ll be soaking up the newborn snuggles ourselves before long.
