Back in November I got to fly back to Louisiana for one last wedding! It’s been on the books for a year and a half, so long before we knew we were moving. It was so delightful to get to see friends and visit our old church. I was also able to squeeze in a family session and a senior session Saturday morning with some of my favorite people! It really felt like going back home for the weekend. I’m so thankful!
I shot Kaitlyn and Ty’s engagement photos back in March at a friends’ farm. It was perfect for their country style and laid-back personalities. I’m so glad we did that session long before the move! I actually had to have a friend shoot Kaitlyn’s bridals for me in September because that was already after we left Louisiana. That post will be coming soon!
Anyway, Kaitlyn and Ty’s wedding day ended up being rainy and a bit chilly. We were supposed to do photos of Kaitlyn and her bridesmaids at a historic house in Gueydan, but we had to change plans because of the weather. The girl’s were getting ready at Holly’s house, and thankfully there was a porch! The rain was light enough for me to be able to stand out in it, and the girls could stay under the covering. All you need is one good porch like that to get some great photos even in the rain!
The boys got ready at one of the groomsmen’s camps on Lake Arthur. The camp was far enough away from where were that they didn’t have the same kind of wet drizzle all day that we had. They were able to do a lot of their photos outside no problem! I’m so thankful for that! And shout out to my second shooter, Karen, who did a great job capturing the guys getting ready!
The ceremony was at St. Peters Catholic Church in Gueydan and the reception was at the Gueydan Civic Center. The church was beautiful, and I love the way Kaitlyn decorated the reception hall. And their cake was to die for! Their ceremony was at 6, so Karen helped me out with some flash for their outdoor portraits afterwards. I love the effect of the light coming from directly behind them! I also loved their idea to have their wedding party use confetti poppers as they entered the reception instead of waiting and doing traditional exit photos at the very end. Congratulations, Kaitlyn and Ty!! I’m so glad I was able to be a part of your big day!
