DeRidder Maternity Photos
I love this family! And so does Benjamin. If you ask him who his best friend is, he almost always says Bonnie. When we were driving to church the other day he said, “Hi lake! I’m going to see my friend Bonnie!” It’s adorable. And when I ask him who his favorite teacher is he usually says “Bonnie’s mom.” I love it!
This sweet family is looking forward to meeting their baby brother Owen in August. I’m sure Derek will love having a brother eventually, but right now he still thinks of himself as the baby. It’ll be an adjustment for him for sure! I got to take his 1-year pictures last May, and it’s crazy how big he’s gotten!
Normally in the summer I try to shoot first thing in the morning. It’s really the only bearable time of day! But our original session time got stormed out. We had to reschedule for a Tuesday evening, and it was hot hot hot. But everyone did great!
And I seriously love doing sessions with kids. It can be crazy for sure, and I usually take at least 50% more photos than I do of just adults in the same amount of time. But there’s just something so real about it. It ends up being a combination of posed (ands semi-posed) photos and silly ones playing and making each other laugh. You definitely can’t wait until everyone is perfectly positioned to take the photo, because then you never will! Once one kid is in place with their hands adjusted the other ones are already wandering off. I have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, so that’s life for me too! The key is to just keep taking pictures. Some of my favorites are the less posed ones, the in-between moments.
