Winter Garden Wedding
Gabby and Jorge have waited so long for this! Their original wedding date was May 2020. They postponed it until June, and then December. But it was becoming clear that it would be a while before they could have the wedding of their dreams. So they got married in a small ceremony and postponed their big shindig until December 2021. At this point I still hadn’t met them! But then we finally made it, and oh friends, it was worth the wait.
These two met as students their freshman year at UNC. (I met Stephen my freshman year, so I have a soft spot for UNC love stories). Even though neither of them is from Wrightsville, as they were thinking about where they wanted to get married and checking out venues, they fell in love with Wrightsville Manor. It is not hard to see why! It’s tucked away amid unassuming office buildings and private homes. If you weren’t looking for it, you would absolutely miss it. But then you catch a glimpse of the beautifully manicured gardens behind the building and step into just about the most gorgeous event space I’ve ever seen. What a perfect place for a wedding!
Gabby and her bridesmaids were finishing up hair and makeup when I arrived. April, the maid of honor, was the unofficial hair dresser, and was helping everyone with the finishing touches. And then it was Gabby’s turn! Her dress was gorgeous! She said she never thought she’d pick something out that had a lot of bling and details, but she totally rocked it.
Gabby is pretty organized and she had a great coordinator in Cherish from Divine Inspirations, so the whole day went super smoothly. It was a beautiful 65 degree day so we got to make full use of the gardens for photos too. I witnessed one of the best father-daughter dances I’ve ever seen, and heard some of the most heartfelt toasts. I said at the beginning of this post that Gabby and Jorge’s wedding was worth the wait, and it absolutely was. Congratulations, you two!!
