Longville Newborn Photographer
Oh my heart. This session was so special to me for so many reasons. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through our journey to parenthood it’s that it’s not as easy as it seems, and sometimes it’s a long and bumpy road. That was certainly true for this sweet family. After years of desiring to grow their family and looking into many different ways to do that, these two pursued embryo adoption. It’s something I’d never heard of, but it allowed them to adopt a sweet little life from another couple who had gone through IVF in the past. It allowed Kahlie to actually give birth to their adopted daughter. And just before their eighth wedding anniversary, they welcomed their sweet Eliza Jane into the world. What a story! (If you’d like to read more about it, check out Philip’s blog.) I know they are SO thankful for her little life, and are just soaking up the newborn snuggles this Christmas season.
We did their session the day after Thanksgiving. Eliza was exactly two weeks old, and she was awake the whole time! We couldn’t believe it. Usually the little ones eat right before the session and pass out, but it was so fun to get to see her little eyes and watch her just taking it all in. She was tired by the end, though, let me tell you.
Kahlie had some Christmas-y outfits planned for the first part of the session and even put a small Christmas tree on the bedside table. I loved that tree!! Out-of-focus lights in the background took the photos to the next level. I want to do that all my newborn sessions now! I love the black and white floral outfit too. So cute!! Clara is one now, and I still think of her as so little, but then I get around an actual newborn. It’s amazing how tiny they are!!
Congratulations, Philip and Kahlie! I am rejoicing with you in the blessing of your daughter!!
