I got to do Allie and Carson’s engagement photos back in August, so I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, and it was an amazing day! You could just tell being there how supportive their friends and family are, and how many people are rooting for them. It’s so special to have that kind of community, and it was a joy to see that!
It was surprisingly cold for mid-December in Southern Louisiana, but we made it work! Everyone kept saying how much colder it had been the night before at the rehearsal, so I’m extra thankful the high at least was around 60. The ceremony was on a Friday, so they planned it for a little later so everyone could get off work and get there. But in December the sun sets at 5pm. We planned things so we could do the couple portraits at least before it got dark and then did the wedding party and family portraits at the ceremony site. It ended up working out perfectly because everyone had time to go inside and warm up after portraits were done, but they didn’t have so much time that they didn’t know what to do with themselves. It’s not exactly easy to take a break and relax on the couch in a wedding dress!
I loved all the special elements that Allie and Carson incorporated into their day. Carson had an awesome candle and photo set-up for the proposal, which they recreated at the venue. It was the perfect spot to end our couple portrait time! During the ceremony, they chose to braid a cord of three strands to symbolize their new unity with God at the center, and it will be a beautiful piece that they can display in the their home moving forward. I also loved the groom’s cake display! A groom’s cake was not a very common thing at weddings in North Carolina, and I am loving all the creativity I’m seeing in that department in Louisiana. Maybe my favorite thing was the personalized Christmas tree ornaments that they had as party favors. What a cool idea for a wedding right before Christmas! After Carson had danced with his mom for a few minutes they invited all mothers and sons to join them on the dance floor. My son just turned two and just thinking about something like that made me a little misty-eyed. And don’t get me started on listening to them read their letters to each other! It really was a wonderful day =) Congratulations, you two!!
