Lake Charles Engagement Photographer
It’s hard to believe everything that’s happened since these photos were taken. And it’s just been 3.5 weeks. The locations we visited, Dry Creek Venue and some family property of Carson’s, look completely different after Hurricane Laura. It’s heartbreaking. So many people are still without power. At 7 months pregnant, I couldn’t stay at home with no power or water. I’ve been staying at my parent’s house in Kentucky with Benjamin! Everyone is just cobbling it together, taking one day at a time. I’m so glad we were able to do these photos before it all. We had to reschedule this session a few times because of COVID, and August is Louisiana is SO hot. We decided on a Saturday morning session to beat the heat instead of waiting longer, and I’m so glad we did!
We started off at Dry Creek Venue, where I’ve been able to shoot several times over the last year. It won’t ever look exactly the same again, and my heart goes out to the owners who have put so much time and effort into making it look amazing. I know it will look amazing again, but it’s a hard road!
Allie and Carson jumped right into the session and weren’t afraid to go anywhere or try anything. They absolutely rocked it! We spent half our time at the venue and then headed to some of Carson’s family’s land. There were some cypress trees by a pond (gorgeous!!) and the home that Carson’s great-grandparents lived in. I love shooting at locations that are meaningful to my clients, and it’s awesome to be able to capture that kind of family legacy.
It’s been a CRAZY year for us in Southwest Louisiana. I’m pretty sure if these two can plan a wedding through all of this they can do anything! I can’t wait for your wedding in December, friends!! 100 days!
