Dry Creek Venue Wedding Photography
Y’all this is the couple that won my wedding package giveaway for Valentine’s day!! This year has been so crazy I swear Valentine’s day feels like it was 2 years ago, buuuuuut it’s only been 5 months 😜. COVID has changed a lot of things this year, but Dustin and Amanda didn’t let that stop them from getting hitched! They ended up having to put a lot of their wedding together themselves, and they did a FANTASTIC job. They even had to do the food themselves. I’m so impressed!
They got married at Dry Creek Venue, which was seriously the perfect place. Almost everything can be outside, which is nice given government guidelines about the pandemic, but the pavilion offers shade and fans. Don’t get me wrong…it was still HOT, but that’s what you get in Louisiana in July. Most people had changed out of their fancy clothes by mid-reception, including the bride and groom, and I don’t blame them one bit!
Because Amanda and Dustin put so much together themselves, they were busy ALLLL day. Their ceremony wasn’t until 7pm, and I know they used every bit of that time before they started getting ready. Amanda and Dustin decided not to see each other before the ceremony. A lot of my couples do that, BUT this time, with the ceremony so late, we didn’t have much light left after the ceremony so we had to be quick! The weather cooperated, though, and we got some great golden light right as the sun was hitting the horizon. It was perfect!
Some of my favorite parts of their wedding day were during the ceremony. They kept it short and sweet, but Amanda lit a candle for her mother who is no longer with us, and Amanda, Dustin, and their 5 kids put together a puzzle celebrating their blended family. I’ve shot a lot of weddings, and I’ve never seen anything like that before. It was super unique and will be such a sweet keepsake for them in the years to come. Congratulations, you two!! Wishing you a lifetime of sweet memories together.
