The Outer Banks and Edenton
First Stephen and I went to Jockey’s Ridge. He’d never been before, and I haven’t been since college. It was threatening rain all morning, but that just made the clouds look amazing! It must have rained a lot recently…I’d never seen so much water collected between the dunes!
Then we headed to the beach. We got lunch at a char-grilled burger place (yummm) and hung out by Jennette’s Pier for most of the afternoon. The sun eventually came out, and you can even see blue sky behind our squid kite.
For dinner we went to T.L.’s Family Restaurant in Manteo (good ol’ comfort food) and then went the Lost Colony outdoor drama at Ft. Raleigh. No pictures of that sadly because it rained and misted during the entire show, but it’s a fun memory for sure!
That night we stayed in Edonton and explored the historic buildings of the small town Sunday morning. We were all exhausted from the late night, though and didn’t stay long. It was a fun but exhausting trip!
Disclaimer: all these photos are iPhone photos. We just got new phones (it’s the first time I’ve had a phone with a good camera!!!) and I’m still testing it out. It was freeing not to have my large camera and also sad at the same time.
