Making your Wedding YOU
Tell me if you can relate to this. I’m not a very creative person when it comes to ideas. I can see something I like and do that (cough Pinterest cough), but I’m not good at coming up with unique things on my own. Part of this is because I’m a traditional girl who doesn’t take a lot of risks. Today I want to tell you not to be afraid to do something unique and make your wedding YOU! Find a way to incorporate unique parts of personalities or relationship. I wish I had spent more time thinking about ways to make our wedding unique! Here are a couple ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
1. Captain America Shoes – Michael and Erin are two of the biggest super hero nerds I know. I use the word nerds in the most endearing way possible. Erin gets paid to write about marvel movies and comics for an online blog, and they’ve seen every super hero movie that’s come out in the last 15 years. (I’m pretty sure that’s not an exaggeration). That might seem like a weird thing to incorporate into your wedding day, but Erin did it so well!
2. An Enclosed Flower Vase – Michael and Erin get a lot of credit for being unique. This one was Michael’s idea, and it was a great one. Erin is allergic to flowers. Really allergic. Now of the “flowers” they used for bouquets or decorations on their wedding day were real. BUT Michael wanted to be able to give Erin flowers on their wedding day and continue to bring them to her for special occasions in the future. SO he found a vase that had a lid allowing Erin to enjoy the flowers without having a allergic reaction. It was so sweet and so special!
3. A Deck of Cards – Ashlee and Cody played cards for hours on their first date. When Cody proposed, he had cut out a hole in a deck of cards to hide the ring. They used that deck of cards as decoration at their reception, and bought a large scale deck of cards to use in their couple portraits. I never would have thought of that!
4. You’re my Lobster – Any ‘Friends’ fans here? According to Phoebe, lobsters mate for life. In the episode where this fun fact comes out, Ross says to Rachel that she’s his lobster, that he’ll never love anyone the way he loves her. Ritch and Renee are big Friends fans, so this is the gift that Ritch gave to Renee the morning of their wedding:
