The New Maria Estes Photography is Here!

I know there wasn’t much build up for this one, probably because I didn’t even know myself I was going to be doing this until this time last week. I intended to spend a couple hours tops updating my website this off-season. However, I also wanted to develop a clear mission statement now that I’ve been in business a couple years and I kept coming back to some adjectives that I felt described my shooting style: classic, timeless, simple and beautiful, that did not really describe my website. I began to realize that I’d already outgrown the website I made this time last year (both an annoying and an exciting discovery). I decided to latch on the excitement and really vision-cast for my business. I’ve been working pretty much non-stop the past few days to update the style of my website as well as the image content. Going back through my portfolios I think I had better work on updating them more than once a year from now on.

The Thought Process

As I thought about why this business exists and what it’s purpose is I came up with a mission statement. My mission through this business is to glorify God by telling stories through beautiful, timeless images. I have a passion for photography and I love making beautiful images, but glorifying God in all that do and serving my clients well come before the pictures every time.

The word timeless encapsulates a lot of other adjectives like classic, clean and simple. Simple and clean were the adjectives I really latched onto when I started envisioning what my website could be. There was nothing wrong with the old one exactly, it just didn’t fit my vision for my business.

The Colors

I was using a mid-range green color as the base of my old website with a lighter green as the accent and I decided to flip them. As a photographer I love light, and switching those colors makes the website feel more light and open. The color scheme is really simple, but that’s exactly how I wanted it. White, light green, darker green, and gray.

Brand

There are still some minor things I want to tweak, and I need to spend a little more time updating the portfolio section, but I’m so excited I couldn’t wait to share this. Drop me a line and let me know what you think!
