Chapel Hill Wedding Photography
I LOVE winter weddings, especially around Christmas when everything is red and green. Those colors just pop against dark suits and white dresses. Winter weddings sometimes mean limited portraits outside because of weather, but Audrey and Steve weren’t going to let a little cold stand in the way of great portraits. I love that about them! Maybe it’s a side-effect of living in Wisconsin. =)
Audrey and I went to high school together in Chapel Hill, but we went to a big school and didn’t know each other very well. She got back in touch over the summer after getting engaged and I’m so glad she did! I love thinking back to our 16-year-old selves and seeing how far we’ve come. These two decided to go a different direction with the post-wedding name change, and I love what they did! They chose a new last name together, Ryder, partly as a symbol of the beginning of their new family and partly as a symbol of their Christian faith. I’ve never had a couple do this before, but what a cool idea!
We hit a few snafus during the day, but that’s the nature of weddings. If nothing goes wrong, it didn’t really happen. That may not really be true, but it makes stressed-out brides (including me a few years ago!) feel better. =) Audrey did great rolling with whatever happened, from Steve forgetting his contacts to ripping his pants, and let me tell you, those will be awesome stories later!
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching Steve and Audrey dance. They are both excellent ballroom dancers and I was simply in awe of their talent and grace. One of the other things I loved about the day was the sweet sibling relationships. Watching Audrey with her sister as they got ready or Steve with his twin brother, Jeff, on the dance floor was a treat. Congratulations you two! I hope you had a blast in Puerto Rico and are settling into your new life together.
