I’m Maria and I’m so glad you’re here! Let me tell you a little about myself and why I love what I do. My hope is that every time you look at your wedding photos you remember how you felt, how you loved. I imagine wrinkled hands 50 years from now flipping through album pages and marveling at how much the love has grown. Sharing your life wholly with someone else brings deeper joy and excitement than anything I’ve ever experienced, and being a part of that beginning for so many couples is a gift that I cherish. I love what I do, and I would be honored to tell your story!
I studied photojournalism at UNC, and Chapel Hill is still the place I call home. It’s where I was pushed to grow as a photographer more than I thought possible and where fell in love with my husband, Stephen. We’ve been married since June 2013, and every year with him has been better than the last.
I started shooting weddings in 2012 and have loved every minute of it. Weddings offer a unique combination of documentary and portrait photography where my creativity thrives. Since graduating in 2013, I’ve also been working as a photographer and graphic designer at the seminary where my husband is studying for his PhD. I love crafting and baking, and I spend a lot of time on Pinterest looking for new ideas (though I’ll be the first to admit that some of my projects could be featured on a Pinterest fail blog). I love porch swings and lemonade and family. Always family.
Some of my fondest memories are of our family trips to Michigan every summer, sitting by the fire watching the river slip by. Sometimes I wish I could freeze those moments. Not just the scene, but the feeling of them. The emotion, the joy, the contentment. That’s one of the things I love most about photographing weddings, stopping the moments of deep love, joy and laughter so that they can be shared for generations.
