NC State Engagement Photography
I kind of love it when my clients tell me they’re nervous about being photographed, but trust me enough to try an engagement session to get used to being in front of the camera. It happens more often than you’d think, and it’s SUCH a joy for me to be able to help them feel comfortable and show them gorgeous images of THEM while we’re shooting. I can see the confidence levels rise and my couples actually start to have fun, and it makes me so happy. This session was no different. When we talked on the phone months ago, I could tell Jordan was nervous, so I suggested an engagement session, and she loved the idea. I tell all my couples before we start that they don’t need to know anything ahead of time, I’ll tell you exactly what to do, and if you feel awkward at first, that’s totally normal. But these two barely needed my help. They were naturals and have so much fun that it wasn’t hard to capture that on camera.
They met at NC State, though they didn’t start dating until after they graduated. The first time they really spent time together was on a catering job where they were setting up a banquet room just the two of them. The building where that event was is a special place for them, so we stopped by for a quick picture before heading to Raulston Arboretum for the second half of our shoot. Unfortunately, there are pros and cons to photographing on a university campus in the summer. There are no students around, which is great, but there’s also tons of construction going on. The whole facade of the building was covered by construction! But they rolled with it and we took an “oh well” picture.
